Can I order a cake I see on the Web site?
Each Sweet*Bea cake is unique. You may use a cake you see as a starting point, but our goal is to work with your ideas and tastes to create your unique cake.
How much does a Sweet*Bea cake cost?
As each cake is custom designed, there is no set price. After we discuss the design, we can determine the cost. Please note there is a $150 minimum.
How far in advance should I place an order?
This depends on the time of year. We do ask for at least three weeks’ notice, but please inquire if you need a cake sooner, as we will do our best to accommodate. Please note there is 20% deposit required to secure a date.
Do you bake your own cakes?
Yes. Each Sweet*Bea cake is made with the freshest ingredients.
I would like to bake my own cake; can you frost and decorate it?
Yes. We would need to discuss the dimensions and timing. You may also furnish us with a favorite cake recipe.
What do you use to paint the cakes?
We use food-safe colors. Flavored extract thins the colors and allows for quick drying.
What is Fondant?
Fondant is a sweet, elastic icing that can be rolled out and draped over a cake to create a smooth finish. Fondant can also be used to sculpt cake decorations.
What is Gum paste?
Gum paste is made from powdered sugar, starch and soaked gum tragacanth and is used to make realistic-looking decorations such as flowers and fruits. Gum paste decorations will last for quite a long time if you choose to keep them.
What is Marizpan?
Marzipan is a sweet, supple confection made with almonds, sugar and egg whites. It is used to cover cakes as well as to sculpt decorative candies and figurines.
What flavors do you offer?
Some cake suggestions include chocolate, white, vanilla, red velvet, lemon, carrot, coconut and pound cake. Filling suggestions include flavored buttercream, chocolate ganache, lemon and orange curd. Icing options are rolled fondant, marzipan, ganache and flavored buttercream.
I have special dietary restrictions. Do you make cakes without gluten or nuts? Do you make kosher cakes?
We can honor dietary restrictions, but we are not set up to make a kosher cake.
